Wild forest, foggy swamp with exceptional flora and crystal clear lakes surrounded by birch and pine trees - this perfectly describes the surroundings that we are taking you to today.

After a short car ride from Vilnius you will find yourself surrounded by endless forests where an amazing natural gem is awaiting you. The first stop of the day is a cognitive path through a protected Varnikai reserve in Trakai Historical National park. Here you will have an opportunity to enjoy spectacular views and the rich natural biodiversity found here and maybe spot some wild animals. A well marked path will lead you through a thick forest and a meadow that enriches the diversity of the habitats of the reserve opening up a spectacular view over the Ilgelis Bog and lakes.

Later you will continue walking towards Trakai passing a local village, crossing a few bridges over interconnecting lakes and finally arriving into Medieval town, a former capital of Lithuanian Grand Duchy. Once a significant and powerful town, nowadays Trakai is enjoying tranquility and a status of summer resort with its only 5000 residents. The town is also famous for it's Karaim community living here since the 14th century who make "kibinai" the best local pastries in the area. We will make sure you will find the best place to try this delicacy and have some free time to enjoy the views of the lakes and even visit a unique Medieval castle built on the island of lake Galve.

After some rest You will make your way through Trakai town to the station and catch a train going to Vilnius - this way you will not only try one of the local’s most favourite means of commuting but also travel by a sustainable and green transport.
